Apart from displaying other users that follow your blog, Tumblr does not offer any tracking statistics. This means that you have to use third-party services such as Google Analytics, StatCounter or ClickMeter to get insights about your visitors by tracking their location, the search terms that led them to your blog and the time they spent on your blog. To make use of these services, sign up for an account, and then integrate the tracking code within your Tumblr blog.

1 Google Analytics

2 Go to the Google Analytics website

Go to the Google Analytics website (link in Resources), and then sign in using your Google account. Click the "Create an account" link and follow the prompts if you do not already have a Google account.

3 Click the Sign up'' button

Click the "Sign up" button, and then click the "Website" tab. Click the radio button next to "Universal Analytics," and then type a name for your account in the Account Name input box.

Type the name of your Tumblr blog in the Website Name input box and the address in the Website URL input box.

Select the category that best fits your blog from the "Industry Category" drop-down list, and then select the reporting time zone.

Click the check boxes next to the data sharing settings that you feel comfortable with, and then click the "Get Tracking ID" button.

Read the terms of service agreement, and then click "I Accept." Click the tracking code that is generated, and then press "Ctrl-C" to copy the code to the clipboard.

Open a new tab and sign in to your Tumblr account. Click the gear-shaped icon to access the Settings page, and then click the name of the blog that you want to track.

Click "Customize," and then paste the code in the Google Analytics UA Code input box if you are using a theme such as Postage, 1000 Suns or Solstice that support this feature. Paste the code at the bottom of the Description box if the Tumblr theme you are using does not have a Google Analytics input box.

Click "Save," and then click "Exit." Click the "Reporting" tab on your Google Analytics dashboard to view detailed tracking statistics for your Tumblr blog.

Type a name for the project -- for example, "Tumblr Tracking" -- or the name of your blog in the Project Title input box, and then select your country from the "Country" drop-down list.

Select your time zone, and then click the radio button next to "Invisible Tracking." Click the radio button next to the frequency of the email reports, and then enter a recipient email address in the Recipients field.

Click "Add Project," and then click the "Copy to Clipboard" link below the tracking code that is generated.

Open a new tab and sign in to your Tumblr account. Click the name of the Tumblr blog that you want to track, and then click "Customize" at the top of the screen.
