Adding a View Count on a Craigslist Posting

Find out how many people read your Craigslist ad by adding a hit counter that keeps tracks of your total page views. While Craigslist doesn't have its own hit counter option, many third-party websites provide HTML snippets you can simply paste into your item description when creating or editing the ad. The counters come in different styles and colors, so try several until you find one you like.

1 TinyCount

2 Navigate to the TinyCount website

Navigate to the TinyCount website (link in Resources).

3 Copy the line

Copy the line of code displayed on the main page, and then paste the code into the Posting Description field when creating your Craigslist ad.

4 Publish your ad

Publish your ad as you would normally. Open the ad from the Craigslist website at any time to check the current count.

5 Hit Counter HTML Code

6 Navigate

Navigate to the Hit Counter HTML Code website (link in Resources).

7 Click one

Click one of the "Make My Counter" buttons to create the HTML widget. Choose to create a counter that show the number of views at the bottom of your ad, or create a counter that show a check mark you can click to see the count.

8 Copy the block

Copy the block of code displayed on the page, and then paste the code into the Posting Description field when creating or editing your Craigslist ad.

9 Publish your ad-2

Publish your ad as you would normally. Open the ad from the Craigslist website at any time to check the current count.

11 Navigate to the Codbag.com hit counter page

Navigate to the Codbag.com hit counter page (link in Resources).

12 Select the color

Select the color, size and font you want to use for your hit counter, and then click "I Like It! Gimme the Code."

13 Copy the block of code

Copy the block of code displayed on the next page, and then paste the code into the Posting Description field when creating or editing your Craigslist ad.

14 Publish your ad-3

Publish your ad as you would normally. Open the ad from the Craigslist website at any time to check the current count.

  • If you've already published your ad, add the counter widget by clicking the editing link in the email sent to you by Craigslist. The ad opens to the Posting Description field, where you can add the HTML code.
