How to Master Reset a Sony Ericsson R800X

You can perform a master reset on the Sony Ericsson R800X, also known as the Xperia Play, in one of two ways. If you can access the Settings menu on the device, initiate the master reset from this menu. However, if your device is frozen or if you cannot access the Settings menu because you are locked out of the device, initiate a master reset using hardware buttons on the phone.

1 Using the Settings Menu

2 Press the Menu key

Press the “Menu” key from the home screen to open the device menu.

3 Tap the Settings ” icon

Tap the “Settings” icon, and then tap “Privacy” to open the Privacy menu.

4 Tap the Factory Data Reset option

Tap the “Factory Data Reset” option to display the Factory Data Reset screen.

5 Tap Reset Phone

Tap “Reset Phone.” The password prompt displays if you have configured security on the device.

6 Type the password

Type the password, if prompted, and then tap “OK.” A warning message displays.

7 Erase Everything

Tap “Erase Everything” to confirm the master reset. The phone powers down and reboots. When the device turns back on, factory default settings and software are restored.

Press and hold the “Power” key to turn off the Xperia Play.

10 Remove the back cover

Remove the back cover, and then take the battery out of the phone. Leave the battery out of the phone for a few minutes, and then replace it and the cover.

11 And hold and directional keys

Press and hold the “Left” and “Right” directional keys under the screen.

12 Press the Power key

Press the “Power” key while holding the “Left” and “Right” directional keys. The Factory Data Reset menu displays.

13 Use the directional keys

Use the directional keys to highlight the “Factory Data Reset” option, and then press the “Power” key to select the option.

14 Follow the instructions

Follow the instructions to complete the data wipe. The device powers down, and then boots back up. When the Xperia Play turns back on, factory default settings and software are restored.
