How to Change Incoming Text Color on LG Ally Cell Phone

The default settings options for the LG Ally messaging app do not enable you to change the text color for incoming messages. However, several free and highly rated third-party SMS apps, such as Handcent, Chomp SMS and Go SMS Pro, extend the functionality of the stock messaging app to include customizing the font for incoming texts. Handcent provides the most options for customizing incoming and outgoing texts. Chomp SMS and Go SMS Pro are similar in functionality, enabling you to customize nearly every attribute of your SMS messages. All three apps have received user ratings of 4.4 out of 5 or higher by Google Play users.

Download and install Handcent to the Ally. Launch the app by tapping the icon in the Ally home screen.

Tap the "Handcent" icon in the Ally home screen to launch the app, then tap the "Menu" icon.

Tap the “Settings” option, then tap the option that corresponds to customized messages.

Tap “Custom Style,” then tap “Conversation List Settings.”
6 Tap the Incoming Font Color option
Tap the “Incoming Font Color” option, then slide the “Red," “Green" and “Blue" color sliders to the desired font color for incoming messages. As you move the sliders, the text color previews in the top window.

Press the “Back” button to save the settings and return to the previous screen.

Download and install Chomp SMS to the Ally. Launch the app by tapping the icon in the Ally home screen.

Tap the "Chomp SMS" icon in the Ally home screen to launch the app, then tap the "Menu" icon to open the ChompSMS menu.

Tap the “Settings” icon, then tap “Conversation.”
12 Tap the Incoming Font Color option-2
Tap the “Incoming Font Color” option, then slide the color sliders to the desired color.

Tap “Incoming Bubble Color” to change the bubble color in conversations.

Press “Back” to return to save the changes and return to the previous screen.

Download and install Go SMS Pro to the Ally, then launch the app by tapping the icon in the Ally home screen.

Tap the "Menu" icon to open the Go SMS Pro menu, then tap "Settings" to open the Settings menu.
18 Tap Conversation
Tap “Conversation,” then tap the “Incoming Font Color” option. Slide the color sliders to the desired text color.

Press “Back” to return to save the changes and return to the previous screen.
- Note that you can also select a theme in the SMS app to change the color and style of all fonts in messages. All third-party SMS apps are shipped with a variety of themes and most enable you to download and install additional theme designs.
