How to Set Yahoo Email to Show Your Email Has Been Read

To set messages in your Yahoo Mail account to display in your inbox as if they have been read, mark the messages' status as "read" so that the message sender and subject font is un-bolded in your inbox. You can mark individual messages as read even if they have not been opened; or, if you are using one of the new Yahoo Mail themes, you can select all messages in your inbox and then mark all emails as read at one time.

Log in to your Yahoo Mail account. Your messages are displayed with a check box in front of each email in your Inbox.

3 Click the check box in front of each message

Click the check box in front of each message to mark as read.

4 Click the More option

Click the “More” option in the top navigation menu, then click “Mark As Read.” All checked messages are marked as read.

5 Mark All Messages in Inbox

Log in to your Yahoo Mail account.

Right-click the “Inbox” link in the left sidebar panel to display a context menu.

Click “Mark All Read.” All messages in your inbox are marked as read.

  • You can also mark messages as “unread” to make the message sender and subject bold again as if you'd never opened the email. To do so, click the check box in front of an opened message, click the “More” option and then click “Mark as Unread.”
