The change of seasons is a tricky fashion time. Early fall and spring bring unpredictable weather, with the need for shorts one day and jeans the next. For those in-between times, peep-toe ankle boots combine the best of both sandals and traditional booties. Pair them with a range of outfits for a seamless seasonal transition.

1 Denim Days

Peep-toe ankle boots are a natural with jeans, but the silhouette you choose is of particular importance. Featuring the footwear is key -- show off your shoes with skinny denim or rolled-up boyfriend jeans, depending upon the occasion. Rock a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans with a simple black tank and sand-colored, chunky-heel peep-toe boots for a laid-back look or dress up a bit with dark-wash skinnies, a light-blue chambray button-down and cognac peep-toe booties. Complete the outfit with a gold cuff and a bright tangerine shoulder bag for a dash of bold color.

2 Leggy Looks

If you can’t bring yourself to wear shorts or a skirt with closed-toe ankle boots, the peep-toe version lets you ease into the trend. Slip on a pair of black shorts and a lightweight off-the-shoulder sweater and finish with black peep-toe booties. Or transition a summer dress into fall by topping a white eyelet sheath with an Army-green utility jacket. Add a silver chain or hoops and rock tan suede peep-toes to show off your pedicure for just a little bit longer.
