The Gideons are known for placing Bibles in hotels, motels and extended-stay facilities all over the world. Founded in 1899, the association says it is the oldest group of Christian businessmen in the U.S. It began when two men shared a room one night at a crowded hotel in Wisconsin and discovered they shared a common Christian faith. Eventually, they and a third man formed the Gideons, named after the biblical character in Judges. By 1908, they decided to focus on the "Bible Project" of placing Bibles in hotels nationwide. You can assist their efforts in several ways.
