Pantone’s Color of the Year in 2013, emerald green boasts both a regal richness and an earthy zen. A dress in this vibrant shade doesn’t need to be elevated with added frills, but it does require the perfect finish in the form of well-chosen shoes. Make this jewel tone work for you with fab footwear that highlights your emerald-green frock.

1 Go Neutral

Emerald is a hit in all seasons, but fall collections often pair it with black. Rock an emerald-green wrap dress with black pumps or knee-high boots for a cool-weather look; add black tights for extra warmth. When the temp calls for baring your legs, slip on an emerald sundress and wedge or flat sandals in nude, tan or beige. Browns also work well with green -- opt for a rich espresso or cognac shade.

2 Maximize Metallics

Gold, silver or bronze -- all three colors are winners with emerald green. Gold adds a luxe impression, while cool silver plays up emerald’s slightly blue undertones. A coppery bronze shoe provides the neutral qualities of brown with just a hint of shimmery color. For your next school dance, party or special night out, wear an emerald-green dress with either strappy gold heels or pointy-toe pumps. Rock dangling crystal-and-emerald faux-gem earrings and a gold clutch to complete the look.
