Your crush barely seems to notice you or your "girl who's just a friend" doesn't seem to get your subtle signs that you want more. What can you do to get a girl to like you? Before you back off or give up on the object of your affection, take a look inward. With a mix of self-confidence, smarts and sweetness you may be able to get the girl you like interested in you.

1 Make Her Laugh

Having movie star good looks and a bank account that rivals Bill Gates' aren't necessary to get a girl to like you. While there are certainly girls who are hoping for a Ryan Gosling look-alike or want someone who can pay their bills, other traits -- such as humor -- can help you to get your crush crushing on you. A good sense of humor, the ability to joke around and not taking life so seriously, can interest the girl who has caught your eye and keep her coming back for more. This doesn't mean that you have to crack jokes 24/7. Instead, show her a playful sense of humor or tell her a funny story that will get her laughing.

2 Communicate Well

Unless the girl who you like is a mind reader -- and most likely she isn't -- she'll appreciate your top-notch communication skills. Even though you're not in a relationship with her just yet, communication is key to the success of any couple. If she sees that you can openly talk about your feelings, share your thoughts and ask her about what's going on in her head, she'll know that you care. On top of that, she may see more promise in you as a romantic partner than she would with someone who clams up and avoids deep conversations.

3 Show Respect

Starting out a conversation with, "How could you possibly like that movie? It's the worst piece of garbage ever," isn't likely to win her heart. If you want a girl to like you, show her respect when it comes to her thoughts, values and beliefs. This doesn't mean that you have to agree with everything that she says. Instead, don't make fun of her or make her feel stupid for having an opinion. For example, if she talks about a band that you can't stand, say something such as, "It's not my kind of music, but I really admire how you have so much passion for their songs." Doing so shows that you value her and may make her more interested in you.

4 Carry Yourself With Confidence

A lack of self-esteem is a turn off for almost every woman. Having a confident -- but not cocky -- persona and showing her that you're happy with yourself may draw her to you. If you're struggling with your self-esteem, you can change your own opinion and give yourself a mental boost. Put the negative thoughts away and focus on your pros rather than the cons, suggests the article "How Can I Improve My Self-Esteem?" on TeensHealth. Walk into the room with a self-assured smile on your face, thinking that you're a winner. She'll take note of your cool and confident attitude.
