How to Make a Flyer and Event for Women Ministries for the First Meeting

Members of women's ministries look forward to fun, envigorating meetings.

Women's ministries provide women with guidance, inspiration and emotional support, as well as strengthens the bonds of friendship and sisterhood. Women ministries are typically associated with Christian churches, and meeting discussions are based on Biblical principles. If you're starting a women's ministries group, create a flier that grabs the attention of your church's members. Women often have obligations (kids, career and household duties) that might keep them from attending meetings at the same day and time each week. At the end of each meeting, vote among the group to decide when would be the optimal time to hold the next meeting.

Determine the specific focus of your women’s ministry. Some women’s ministries focus on wife and/or motherhood, or navigating the world as a single Christian woman; others focus on sisterhood and community. Some groups attempt to incorporate principles, lessons and testimonies regarding all of the above.

Decide what will be the main focus for the first meeting of your women’s ministry. Activities for the first meeting typically include greeting one another, learning about what led each woman to participate in the ministry, spiritually encouraging words from the group’s leader and assigning roles and responsibilities for future meetings and events. Write down a list of what you’d like to accomplish.

Create an eye-catching phrase to announce your first meeting, to be placed squarely in the center of your flier. This could be a snippet of Biblical scripture about the importance of women or the significance of gathering; it could also be a funny or clever play on words. Phrase the flier in a way that will attract your specific target audience.

Include important meeting details under the announcement, including the location, date, beginning and end times, as well as a name, phone number and/or email of someone to contact for questions or additional information. If the event is themed, include what people are expected to wear and/or bring.

Begin the meeting with a short prayer, in order to demonstrate that the purpose and activities of the ministry will reflect the spiritual and Biblical principles espoused by the church or religious organization sponsoring the ministry.

Serve refreshments at the meeting. Sharing food and drinks will help break the ice, and foster a sense of community among new members.

Begin and end the meeting on time, according the information printed on the flier. Show members that their time is valuable and respected.
