My Samsung Blu-ray Won't Update From the USB
Depending on the exact model and device capabilities, a Samsung Blu-ray player may be able to update the device software and firmware via USB Flash Drive, burned optical disc or straight over the Internet. If the Blu-ray player is rejecting an update over USB, try one of the other two methods if the model is compatible with either.
1 Update Over the Network
Samsung Blu-ray players with Internet capabilities can download and apply firmware and software updates without the aid of another device. The Blu-ray player must be connected to the Internet over a Wi-Fi network or Ethernet connection to update over the network. To access the OTN update, turn on the player without a disc inserted, select the "Settings" option from the main menu, select "Support," choose "Software Upgrade" and select the "By Internet" method. Follow the onscreen instructions.
2 Update from Optical Disc
Samsung Blu-ray players can run updates through burned optical discs. If Samsung offers an optical disc update for the specific player model, download it on a computer and burn the files to a CD, DVD or Blu-ray writable disc. Turn on the Blu-ray player and insert the update disc. To activate the update, select the "Settings" option from the main menu, select "Support," choose "Software Upgrade," select "By Disc" and follow the onscreen instructions.
3 Handling USB Issues
The update will fail if you apply the wrong model update via USB. Additionally, the upgrade must be done on a USB Flash Drive, not through a USB Hard Drive. Try using a different flash drive if the update fails.
