The NCLEX-PN exam is an exam that licensed practical nurses must take to practice in every state. Passing the exam allows the nurse to practice medicine. Understand the structure of the exam. Download and read the NCLEX-PN Test Plan. This document breaks down the structure of the test and the topics covered. It will give you a good idea of which topics you should spend the most time studying. Subjects include coordinated care and safety, health promotion and maintenance, physiological integrity-basic care and comfort, pharmacological therapies, and physiological adaptation.
Review your textbooks and notes from your coursework. Break down each subject covered on the test and study each subject individually. Don't try to study all topics each day. Keep all copies of notes as well as copies of texts and handouts in an easy-to-reach place as you prepare for the NCLEX-PN exam.
Use practice questions to study for the exam. You can purchase books that will help you prepare for the exam that include practice questions. Courses are available online and in person to help you study and many of those include practice exams.
Form a study group with your peers. Your fellow LPN applicants can help you study for the NCLEX-PN exam. Studying together may help you remember the material better, and your classmates may remember things that you do not.
