Costco is a membership club that opened its first warehouse in San Diego, California in 1976 using the name "Price Club." The stores offer consumers a number of products, including appliances, furniture and groceries. Costco also offers Kirkland Signature batteries for your car. If you purchase this battery and need to return it due to failure, Costco has specific guidelines governing your refund.

1 Find your receipt

Find your receipt. Though many Costco stores may be able to confirm your purchase with the battery's serial number, having a receipt or order number makes it easier to process your return.

2 Visit your local Costco warehouse

Visit your local Costco warehouse. Go the customer service/returns counter. Tell the clerk you want to return the battery. Give the clerk your receipt or order number.

3 Tell the clerk

Tell the clerk when you bought the battery. If you purchased the battery within the past 36 months, you will receive a full refund or exchange towards another battery. If you bought the battery within 37 to 45 months, you will receive a 60 percent refund. You will receive a 50 percent refund if you bought the battery within 46 to 55 months; 40 percent refund if you bought the battery within 56 to 65 months; 30 percent refund if bought within 66 to 75 months; 20 percent refund if bought within 76 to 86 months; 10 percent refund if bought within 86 to 95 months and five percent refund if bought within 96 to 100 months.
