When you upload a photo from your mobile device to Instagram, you have the option of adding the photo to your Photo Map. Your mobile device logs the coordinates of where you took the photo, allowing Instagram to attach an approximate latitude and longitude to your photo based on your location, so that other people can look at your Photo Map and see the places you've visited.

1 Adding Photos to Your Photo Map

Launch the Instagram app, log in to your account, and then capture the photo you want to add to your Photo Map. Select the effects you want to add to the photo, and then tap the arrow button. Type a caption for the photo, and then tag the people in it by tapping the "Tag People" button. Check the "Add to Photo Map" box, and then tap "OK, I Understand" if this is the first time you upload a photo to your map. Tap "Name this location," and then select a location for the photo. If you can't find the location, tap "Create a custom location," and then type a name for it. Tap the check mark button to add the photo to your Photo Map. Note that you can delete photos from the map at any time if you don't want other people to see them.
