English is the language of international business and free political systems. Learning the world's lingua franca can open personal and professional doors. It can help you make social connections and give you a leg up on the corporate ladder. Even though English is a difficult language to learn, there are some techniques you can use to make it easier. Follow them and you'll e speaking English clearly in a short time.

1 Use the International Phonetic Alphabet

Learn the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). Many who are learning the language find English pronunciation difficult. The IPA can help solve the problem. According to the University of Arizona, the IPA is an alphabet used to transcribe "human speech sounds." Memorize the symbols of the IPA. Then look for phonetic transcriptions of English words. Pronounce the words using the IPA symbols. Note the patterns of English sounds as you pronounce words.

2 Surround Yourself with English

Expose yourself to spoken and written English. Watch movies, read books and listen to the lyrics of songs in English. This lets you hear English in its natural contexts, making speaking easier. Try to understand the meaning of the English you're hearing or seeing based on context clues. Use an English dictionary only when necessary.

3 Stay Motivated

Get excited about learning English and stay motivated if you want to learn quickly. Stay motivated by taking breaks when you need them, focusing on the areas of English language learning you enjoy a little each day and studying with people you like.
