How to Recycle Plastic Six-Pack Rings for Cans

The rings holding a six-pack of beer or soda together can be a great danger for animals in the wild. Even if you place these in your recycling bin or garbage, they can fly free from the bag and ultimately get caught around the neck of an animal. These rings are recyclable, but you must use extra care when placing the items in your recycling bin.

1 Remove the cans from the rings

Remove the cans from the rings completely.

2 Use a scissors

Use a scissors and cut the rings apart. Cut across the entire ring to cut it into small pieces. This will prevent the ring from getting caught around an animal's neck.

3 Place the plastic

Place the plastic pieces in your recycling bin with your other plastic products.
