The Bible is a collection of sacred books that is divided into the Old and New Testaments and is the backbone of Christianity. Since the Bible is so long and detailed, studying it can sometimes seem to be an overwhelming challenge. But most people can gain spiritual insight from the Bible and effectively study it by following a few steps.
Choose one book of the Bible at a time to study. It's best to start with a shorter book to begin with and then gradually work your way up to longer books. Plan to immerse yourself in only this one book for at least two weeks.
Say a prayer before beginning your study each time. Ask God to open your mind and help you gain spiritual understanding when reading the Bible.
Read through the book that you have selected in its entirety. As you read, stop and reflect on any passages that catch your eye. You will most likely need several sessions to complete the entire book, so take your time and read thoroughly.
Mark the passages that stand out to you with a highlighter so that you can find those Scriptures later.
After completing the entire book, reread the passages that you have highlighted. Reflect on what the Scripture says and the meaning behind it. Look for ways that you can apply these concepts to your life and to the world around you.
Repeat these steps for each new book of the Bible that you study.
