How to Use Cross Products
Transcript
Hi, I'm Racquel Ward, learning specialist. Today, I'm going to teach you how to solve proportions using cross products. These are proportions: two products on either side of an equal sign. Step one is to cross multiply. So, we have six over 12 equals X over six. We're going to multiply 12 times X, giving us 12x. Then, we multiply six times six, giving us 36. Step two is to solve for X, so 12 divided by itself, cancels out, leaving X alone, and 36 divided by 12 equals three. The answer is X equals three.
