What Is a Numerical Statement?

Numerical statements are often solved by using a scientific calculator.

Often referred to as a numerical equation, a numerical statement is a mathematical phrase or problem made up entirely of numerical characters. All levels of numerical statements present themselves daily in our lives.

1 Significance

Although sometimes referred to as simple math problems and calculations, a numerical statement is the basic equation. 2 + 2 = 4 is one of the most basic numerical statements.

2 Features

The beauty of a numerical statement is that it can take on many different forms. It can be presented as a long division equation or a simple, elementary school-level math problem. In every case, though, it remains a series of numerical characters meant to be solved.

3 Identification

Numerical statements and equations are unique in that they are measured and expressed solely in numbers – no letters are involved. The only exception would be an algebraic statement in which you are solving for a letter.
