Having a guest speaker give a presentation to your service club, church group or school class can give those in the audience a chance to learn in a new way and ask important questions. Once you've verbally thanked the speaker for joining you, take a few minutes to formally express your appreciation in a follow-up thank-you note.

Use Specific Examples

Begin your note by reiterating, on behalf of you and your group, how much you appreciate the guest speaker taking the time to speak. Provide direct feedback on the content of the presentation; for example, "Your story about how you used your internship to earn a full-time position was inspiring to my students." Note any changes you've seen in your group since the presentation; for example, "Three of our club's members have signed up to volunteer as tutors after hearing your speech." Conclude the letter by again stressing your appreciation and offer your assistance to the speaker in the future if needed.
