It can be difficult to live in an area where you don't speak the local language. While language courses can often be expensive, there are multiple free options for learning a new language, including English. In Irvine, California, local resources are available, as well as Internet options that can be accessed from anywhere in the world. It may be a good idea to utilize more than one free language learning resource in order to gain a broader understanding.
Sign up for free English courses through the South Coast Literacy Council by visiting the council's website. SCLC offers free English as a Second Language (ESL) courses throughout Orange County, including five locations in Irvine.
Download English courses from iTunes U, a service offered by iTunes connecting courses and instructive podcasts to users around the world.
