Founded in 1982, Florida Technical College is a private educational institution with locations in Orlando, Lakeland, Kissimmee, Deland and Pembroke Pines, Florida. If you’re interested in one of the many bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees or diploma programs that FTC has to offer, you’ll need to complete their admission requirements before you can begin. After you drop your complete application packet off, pay the fee and participate in an entrance interview, you are on your way to joining the FTC student body.
Completing the Application
The first step in the Florida Technical College application process is filling out the application. After you have completed the application, look it over to ensure that you filled every section out properly. Contact an admissions counselor via the FTC website for application assistance. You must also pay an application filing fee when you submit your application.
Getting the Grades
Florida Technical College doesn’t state a minimum GPA for admission. As long as you submit official transcripts from your high school and it shows that you have passing grades of at least a 2.0 GPA or higher, you will be fine. If you're a transfer student and want to transfer credits, you must provide proof that you received a "C" or higher in all courses via transcripts. If you are a non-native English speaking student, you will have to complete a CASAS appraisal exam and any subsequent English for Academic Purposes courses that FTC deems necessary before enrollment. A grade of "C" or higher is required in all EAP courses to meet the FTC requirements.
To apply to FTC, you should have a high school diploma or General Educational Development diploma. You must provide proof of this award with the date that it was received and submit an official copy with your application. If you apply to FTC before you finish high school or take the GED exam, your enrollment is considered “pending” until you receive your diploma.
No need to worry about missing an important application deadline, FTC has an open enrollment policy. You can apply any time of year. Classes start throughout the year for student convenience.
FTC takes your safety and educational experience seriously. They reserve the right to conduct a criminal background check when you apply and will not accept individuals that have a criminal conviction on their record. This background check is especially important for applicants of the Criminal Justice programs. If you falsely represent yourself, you will be immediately dismissed. If you had a clean record upon enrollment, but get a conviction while attending FTC, certain crimes result in an immediate dismissal. You can appeal this dismissal in writing.
