The BlackBerry Pearl Flip's AutoText feature corrects common errors by automatically replacing misspellings when you press the space key. Similarly, this feature auto-completes words after you've typed enough for the smartphone to recognize and suggest a word. To expedite common expressions, you can also configure your own shortcut abbreviations, so the BlackBerry automatically completes the phrase when you type the shortcut. Although this may sound impressive, this automated feature can introduce errors by replacing correct words with entirely unrelated ones that can drastically --and sometimes embarrassingly-- change the meaning of your text. If you’d rather take manual control over your SMS messages, consider disabling the AutoText feature.
Press the "End" key to return to the home screen.
Select "Options" and then "SMS."
Change the "Disable AutoText" option to "Yes" to disable the AutoText feature.
Press the "Menu" key and select "Save."
