Community College of Alleghany County
The Community College of Alleghany County's nursing program is ranked among the top five community college nursing programs in the United States by Community College Week. Located in Pittsurgh, Pennsylvania, the college offers an associate of science degree in nursing. Coursework must be taken in sequence and includes classes in science, liberal arts and nursing. Classes include a classroom component and a hands-on, laboratory or clinical component. Students with previous nursing education or experience may apply for an advanced placement option. Classes can be taken in the day or evening, and while the program can be completed in two years, most students take three years to finish. The college's nursing curriculum is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.

Salt Lake Community College
At number six on the Community College Week's rankings, Salt Lake Community College's nursing program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and the Utah State Board for Nursing. The program takes two years to complete and offers an associate of applied science degree in nursing. Students can choose to take an LPN transition course and seek LPN licensure at the end of the first year of the program. Coursework includes classroom instruction as well as supervised clinical experience. Students are required to complete a certification in nursing assistance before beginning the degree program. Advanced placement is available for students with previous experience or practical nursing licensure.

Valencia Community College
Valencia Community College, located in Orlando, Florida, offers an associate of science in nursing degree and is among Community College Week's best five nursing schools. Valencia's nursing program operates a unique community outreach program that allows students to obtain required clinical hours in varied settings throughout the community, including nursing homes, health departments and homeless shelters. To qualify for the program, students must complete a series of prerequisite courses, including anatomy, physiology, psychology and nutrition, with a minimum grade of 'C'. The program requires completion of 72 credits and generally takes two to three years to complete. Students who are already licensed in practical nursing, paramedic technology, respiratory care or cardiovascular technology may qualify for the Online RN Advanced Standing Track program, which requires fewer credit hours.
