Instagram offers multiple ways to reset your account password if you can’t access the service or have forgotten your information. In addition to the standard password reset through your email address, Instagram also enables you to reset your password through a Facebook account. You must have previously tied your Facebook and Instagram accounts together for the Facebook password reset to be available.
Getting a New Password
Open the Instagram app on your mobile device and click “Sign In.” Click the “Forgot Password?” link on the next screen and Instagram will show you a set of options for resetting your account. If you use the “Username or Email” option, Instagram will email you a link to reset your password. Other users prefer the Facebook option because it enables you to instantly set your password after logging in with your Facebook credentials. The Facebook option is available only on smartphones as of February 2014. You can also use Instagram’s Web page (link in Resources) to reset your account; this works the same as the mobile app’s “Username or Email” option.
