You can insert or edit a hyperlink in a Tumblr text post using the Insert and Edit Link feature in the New Text Post form. By default, the Insert and Edit Link feature and corresponding Broken Link feature are both grayed out, but when you select and highlight a block of text in the post, the Insert and Edit Link and Broken Link icons become active. Use the Insert and Edit Link feature to insert the URL for a page to open when the link in the post is clicked.
Open Tumblr and click the “Aa Text” icon in the top toolbar to open the New Text Post form.
Type an optional title for the post, then type the post message in the body box.
Drag your cursor over the word or phrase to hyperlink in the post body. When the text is highlighted, the Link and Broken Link icons become active.
Click the “Link” icon in the post formatting toolbar. The Insert Link dialog box opens.
Type or paste the URL for the page to open when the hyperlink is clicked in the Link URL field. Type an optional title for the link in the Title field.
Click the “Open Link in New Window” check box to open the linked page in a new browser window. Leave the check box clear to open the page in the same window.
Click the “Insert Link” button to create the link in the text.
- You can also create a hyperlink in code view. Click the “” icon in the post formatting toolbar to open the post in code view. Type use the “a href” command to create link tags around a word or phrase.
- To edit an existing link, click anywhere inside the linked text, then click the Link icon. The Edit Link dialog box opens.
- To delete a link, click anywhere inside the linked text, then click the Broken Link icon.
