How to Upload a Sound Clip to Facebook

Although Facebook provides a link to publish your photos and videos, the system doesn't have a built-in option to upload sound clips. As a solution, you can use a free audio-sharing service such as SoundCloud, Chirbit or YourListen. These services enable you to automatically post your sound to Facebook after you upload your file.

1 SoundCloud

2 Click the Sign Up button

Click the "Sign Up" button on SoundCloud and follow the on-screen instructions to register for a new account (link in Resources).

3 Click the Upload'' button

Click the "Upload" button, and then click the "Choose File to Upload" button to select a sound clip file from your computer. Alternatively, click the "Start New Recording" button to create an audio file directly on SoundCloud.

4 Enter the required audio file information

Enter the required audio file information, such as a title and tags for your sound, and then click a sharing option such as "Public." Click the "Facebook" option, and then click "Save" to continue.

5 Click the Go To Your Sound link

Click the "Go To Your Sound" link, click the "Share" button and then click the "Facebook" button. Log in to your Facebook account (if required), enter an optional description in the text box, and then click the "Share" button to automatically post it to your Facebook page.

6 Chirbit

7 Point your browser to the Chirbit website

Point your browser to the Chirbit website, and then click the "Sign Up" button (link in Resources). Enter the required information to create a new account and log in when prompted.

8 Click the Upload button

Click the "Upload" button, and then type a title and descriptive tags for your audio. Click the "Choose Your File" button and select your sound clip file in the dialog window.

9 Click the X

Click the "X" to exit the window and access your uploaded file. Click the "Facebook" button. Log in to your Facebook account and enter optional text in the "Write Something" text box.

10 Click an option

Click an option in the "Share" drop-down menu, such as "On Your Own Timeline," to specify where you want to publish your file.

11 Click the Share Link

Click the "Share Link" button to finish posting your sound.

12 YourListen

13 Bring up the YourListen site

Bring up the YourListen site (link in Resources) and then click the "Login with Facebook" button, or click the "Create an Account" link to register for a new account.

14 Click the Upload button

Click the "Upload" button and select an audio file from your computer.

15 Enter the required information

Enter the required information, such as a title and description, as well as license type you prefer. For example, click "All Rights Reserved" to specify that no one may copy, distribute, display or perform your work in any way.

16 Click the optional File Availability

Click the optional "File Availability" and "File Downloading" settings to specify who can hear your sound clip and if it may be downloaded. Click the "Proceed" button to continue.

17 Click the Facebook button

Click the "Facebook" button in the dialog window that launches, and then log in to your Facebook account when prompted. Click the "Share" menu to indicate where you want your file posted, enter optional text in the provided box, and then click the "Share Link" button to finish uploading your sound clip to Facebook.

  • Only post sound clips that you personally create or have a right to share to avoid infringing on any copyrights.
  • If you are unable to upload your sound clip file, check the provider's "Help" or "Support" page to verify what size and file formats are supported.
