Sanford-Brown Institute

The diagnostic medical sonography program at Sanford-Brown's White Plains campus prepares students for entry-level jobs as ultrasound technicians. Students learn to perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations and are introduced to vascular ultrasound. Subjects studied include the anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of scanned organ systems, as well as sonographic patterns. Sanford-Brown's core curriculum includes on-campus lectures and training in the imaging laboratory, along with off-campus clinical work. The externship portion of the program gives students supervised experience in a clinical environment. To be accepted into the program, students must have a high school diploma and some employment experience in health care.
