Top Community College Nursing Programs

The profession of nursing is currently one of the top jobs in the United States. Good pay, great benefits, flexibility and an increased need for more nurses are all reasons why this profession is becoming popular among incoming college students. Community colleges offer a great nursing education for a reasonable price and typically take about two years to complete. Some of the top community colleges offer state-of-the-art classrooms, extensive practical experience and one-on-one guidance.

Chamberlain College of Nursing

Situated in Columbus, Ohio, Chamberlain College of Nursing offers a two-year Associate Degree in Nursing. This top-rated college provides an in-depth nursing program to students in the form of on-site clinical participation. Additionally, 91 percent of students graduated from this program in two years from 2011 to 2012. The two-year program at Chamberlain College of Nursing is offered online and on campus. If students wish to continue their nursing education beyond the two years, Chamberlain offers a bachelor's degree in nursing as well.

Northwest Iowa Community College

Northwest Iowa Community College offers a two-year Associate Degree in Nursing with a focus on either practical nursing or radiology. Students have flexible scheduling options at Northwest Iowa, which allow them to have jobs and fulfill other responsibilities outside of school. This top community college for nursing offers hands-on instruction along with one-on-one attention from teachers. Additionally, nearly 80 percent of students who graduated from this nursing program found employment right after graduation.

Western Wyoming Community College

The two-year nursing program at Western Wyoming Community College offers students a comprehensive learning experience and distance learning in the Rocky Mountain region. Students in this nursing program are likely to continue to a four-year program in nursing or get a job in nursing immediately following graduation. The Western Wyoming nursing program offers a close-knit community of students and teachers.

Santa Barbara City College

Santa Barbara City College has been voted one of the best community colleges in the nation. The School of Nursing at Santa Barbara City College prepares students for nursing examinations to become a registered nurse. Students in this nursing program excel after graduation in a wide variety of health professions. Practicums and qualification examinations are required in this program to give students the best two-year education in nursing. Santa Barbara City College also offers a vocational three-semester nursing program that will allow students who graduate from this program to become licensed vocational nurses.
