Sometimes it can be hard to tell if a boy likes a girl romantically. The girl may think he is romantically interested in her, but at the same time, she may wonder if he only sees her as a friend. The good news is, there are signs a girl can watch for that can help decipher if a boy is romantically interested in her.

Body Language

Body language can be a good indicator that a boy is attracted to a girl. If someone moves closer to another person, it shows a desire for more intimate contact, says Greg Hartley, a former Army Special Forces interrogator, quoted in the article, "Signs He's Into You" on the website, Match.com. For example, if a boy is sitting next to a girl on the couch and scoots closer to her, it's a sign that he may be romantically interested in her. He will look the girl in the eyes when they are talking and will smile openly at her. His body will face her body. A guy who is romantically interested in a girl, will often copy her body language, says Hartley. For example, if the girl leans toward him, he will lean towards her, or if she places her hands on the table, he will also place his hands on the table.

He is Attentive to Her

A boy who likes a girl will go out of his way to show her that she's on his mind. He may text her first thing in the morning. For example, he may text, "Good morning," or "How did you sleep?" He may also text her before he goes to bed, "Good night," or "See you tomorrow." He may wait for her after her class and offer to walk her to her next class. He may compliment her on her dress, new haircut or smile.

He Wants to Get to Know Her

A boy who is romantically interested in a girl will make an effort to get to know her better. He may ask her about her family, her best friends or what she likes to do in her free time. If a boy is interested in a girl, he will look for common ground with her, so he has more ways to relate to her, says Marni Battista, a certified life coach and author of "5 Ways to Know if a Guy is Interested in You" on the website, YourTango. For example, he may want to know if she likes to travel, watch sporting events or exercise.

He Tries to Make Her Laugh

Boys will try to make a girl laugh and watch her reaction in order to see if she shares his interest, says Norman Li, who holds a doctorate in social psychology and is author of "Want to Know if Someone Likes You?" on the website Psychology Today. If the girl returns his interest, she will generally laugh at what he says, even if she didn't necessarily find humor in it.
