How Change Gmail Settings to Delay Sending Emails

The Gmail webmail service offers a lot of features for free, but as of the time of publication, it still doesn't give you the option to delay the sending of emails. To fill this void, a few third-party services, plug-ins and scripts are available. By delaying the time an email is sent, you can compose your messages and then schedule the exact time you want them to go out to the recipients. This not only saves time, but also ensures that you do not forget to send out important emails.

1 LetterMeLater

2 Navigate to the LetterMeLater website

Navigate to the LetterMeLater website (link in Resources) and sign up for a new account. Click the link in the verification email that is sent to your Gmail address in order to confirm your account.

3 Sign in to your LetterMeLater account

Sign in to your LetterMeLater account and click the "Compose" button. Compose your message as normal.

4 Click the calendar icon next

Click the calendar icon next to the "When to Send" field and then select the exact date and time that you want the email to be sent.

5 Click the Schedule

Click the "Schedule to be sent" button after you have composed the message and set the sending date. The sending of the email is then delayed until the date you specified.

6 Microsoft Outlook

7 Open Microsoft Outlook

Open Microsoft Outlook and click the "File" tab.

8 Click

Click "+ Add Account" and then enter your name, Gmail address and password in the requested fields.

9 Click and then click Finish after the automatic configuration

Click "Next" and then click "Finish" after the automatic configuration is complete. This process might take a few minutes to finish.

10 Click New Email

Click "New Email" from the "Home" tab and compose your email.

11 Click the Options tab

Click the "Options" tab and then click "Delay Delivery."

12 Select the date and time

Select the date and time from the "Do not deliver before" drop-down lists and then click "Close."

13 Click the Send button

Click the "Send" button to schedule the email.

14 Gmail Delay Send Script

15 Navigate to the Gmail Delay

Navigate to the Gmail Delay Send Script authorization page (link in Resources) and click "Continue." Click "Accept" to authorize the request for permission. Click "Close" to close the authorization window and then click the "On" radio button next to "Enable" on the settings page.

16 Select your time zone

Select your time zone from the "Current time zone" drop-down list and then select if you want email receipts, error notifications or debug logs emailed to you.

17 Click Save Preferences

Click "Save Preferences" and then sign in to your Gmail account.

18 Click Compose to compose the email as normal

Click "Compose" to compose the email as normal. Click the small down-arrow on the bottom right corner of the email and then select "Label."

19 Click the check box

Click the check box next to the "GmailDelaySend/ToSend" label and then click "Apply."

20 Enter a

Enter a "@" symbol and the time frame in which you want to send the email at the top of the body of the email. For example, to delay the sending of the mail until a specific date you can either enter "@Wednesday 9am" or "@October 30 9am" (without the quotation marks).

21 Click the X button

Click the "X" button to save and close the email. The mail is then sent out at the specified date and time.

22 Boomerang for Gmail

23 Navigate to the Boomerang website

Navigate to the Boomerang website using the Firefox, Chrome or Safari Web browsers and click the "Install Boomerang" button. Click "Allow" and then click "Install Now." Click "Restart" to restart your browser and then sign in to your Gmail account.

24 Click Start

Click "Start" to familiarize yourself with the features offered by Boomerang.

25 Click Compose and compose your message

Click "Compose" and compose your message as normal. Click the "Send Later" button and then select how long you want to delay the email.

26 Click the Confirm button

Click the "Confirm" button and then click "Accept."
