The ACT test is a standardized test utilized by colleges to determine admission and placement. As a student prepares for a college education, taking the ACT test completes an important step toward determining which college will eventually serve the needs of the student. As a student registers for the ACT test, the student can select up to four colleges to which to have test scores sent. After taking the ACT test, a student can send ACT scores to additional colleges by ordering their delivery through the ACT organization.

Send Scores at Registration

Step 1

Visit the ACT student website to begin the registration process for an ACT test. You can register online or by mail, depending upon your individual situation. If you will be registering by mail, download a registration packet to complete.

Step 2

Utilize ACT’s college codes to designate the colleges to which you want your scores sent. Search for the colleges by location or by the college name.

Step 3

Enter the college codes into the appropriate fields within the registration paperwork to have your scores automatically sent to these colleges after you complete the ACT test.

Send Scores After Testing

Step 1

Visit the ACT student website to send your ACT scores to colleges after you take the test.

Step 2

Make an online request through your ACT web account. If you registered for the ACT test online, you already have an account. Even if you did not register online, you can create an account to send your ACT scores to other colleges, if you desire.

Step 3

Place a request to have your scores sent to other colleges by downloading a request form, by sending a letter to the ACT office requesting them to send your scores or by calling the ACT office and making the request.

Step 4

Find the ACT college codes to utilize in your request and enter them into the appropriate fields on the form or write them clearly in the letter. Furnish your Social Security number, your ACT identification number and the date you took the ACT test. Remit the processing fee for this request. If your request is by Internet or telephone, you must use a credit card to pay the fee.
