The Apple iPhone can display notifications and messages in several ways. Traditionally, notifications appear in a round window, or "bubble," on the screen. Depending on your phone's settings, however, text message alerts may appear only on the top banner area, or not at all. You can adjust your iPhone's settings to restore the large bubbles for text messages, so that you can easily see the messages when they appear.

Tap the "Settings" app on the home screen, and then select "Notification Center."

Choose "Messages," go to the Alert Style section, and then tap "Alerts" to display message notifications in the traditional iPhone bubbles.

Scroll to the Alerts section, and then toggle the "Show Preview" option to the green "On" position if you want to see previews of your messages' text in the notification bubble.

Tap "Show on Lock Screen" if you want message bubbles to appear even when the iPhone is locked.
