If you added Disqus, the blog commenting service, to your Tumblr blog, know that you can remove it at any time. If your theme supports Disqus by default, you can easily disable the service from the theme settings page. If you added Disqus support to your theme manually, you must edit the HTML code of your theme to disable it. Don't worry, you don't need to know HTML to remove Disqus support from your theme.

Remove Disqus from Theme Settings

Step 1

Log in to your Tumblr account and then click the gear icon to navigate to the Account page.

Step 2

Click your blog in the left navigation pane and then click the "Customize" button in the Theme section to start editing the theme.

Step 3

Delete your Disqus username from the "Disqus Shortname" field in the left pane and then click the "Save" button to disable Disqus.

Remove Disqus from Theme HTML

Step 1

Click the gear icon after you log in to your Tumblr account, click your blog in the left pane and then click the "Customize" button in the Theme section.

Step 2

Click the "Edit HTML" link to start editing the HTML code of your theme.

Step 3

Delete the <meta name='text:Disqus Shortname' content='' /> line from the head section of the code. The line is located between the <head> and </head> tags.

Step 4

Press "Ctrl-F" to open the search box and then type "{block:IfDisqusShortname}" into the box.

Step 5

Delete the entire block of code between the {block:IfDisqusShortname} and {/block:IfDisqusShortname} lines, including the two lines.

Step 6

Click the "Update Preview" button and then the "Save" button to save the changes.
