Kik offers a free and lightweight messaging service for mobile devices, allowing you to send text and photos to others through a simple text message-style interface. As Kik Messenger is intended as a mobile app, the program does not have a dedicated PC client. However, you can run Kik on your PC using BlueStacks App Player, an emulator that enables you to use Android apps in a Windows or Mac environment. In order to send a photo from your PC through Kik, first send the image to an email client running in the BlueStacks environment, as BlueStacks apps run separately from the rest of your PC.

Download and install the BlueStacks App Player program (link in Resources).

Open App Player and click the “My Apps” tab. Select “1-Click Sync Setup” and enter your Google username and password into the relevant boxes. This process associates your App Player installation with your Google account. If you do not have a Google account, follow the on-screen instructions to create one.

Click “App Search” and type “gmail” (without quotes) into the Search bar. Select the Gmail app from the search listing and then click “Install” to install Gmail in your BlueStacks environment.

Click the Gmail icon and sign in using your Google account. Next, click the “Home” icon to return to App Player's main menu.

Click “App Search” and type “Kik Messenger” (without quotes) into the Search bar. Select the Kik app from the search listing and then click “Install” to install Kik in your BlueStacks environment.

Minimize the App Player and open your regular email account or Web mail page. Create a new email and attach the photo that you want to send to Kik. Address the email to the Gmail account you you're using with App Player and then send the email.

Return to App Player and click “Gmail” to open the Gmail app. Select the new email and then click on the attached picture. Select “Save” from the pop-up menu and then select a location in App Player's filesystem where you wish to save the image.

Close Gmail, then open Kik. Agree to its terms and sign in with your Kik account.

Select the Kik conversation in which you want to send the photo. Next, click the “Plus” button and choose “Gallery” from the pop-up menu. Select your saved photo and then click “Send” to send your photo over Kik.

  • You do not have to use Gmail as your BlueStacks email client. Any client that allows you to view and save attached images will work.
