Tumblr gives you several options for sharing links to other websites, both in posts and on your sidebar. Probably the most effective method is the link posting option -- Tumblr automatically adds the page title, short description and an image based on information from the other page. You can also create external links inside of other posts, or you can use the Add a Page feature to automatically link to other sites from your blog's sidebar.
Create a Featured Link Post
Click the "Link" posting option at the top of your Tumblr dashboard.
Paste the address of the Web page into the URL field.
Type in anything extra you want to add to the post, and then click "Post."
Add Links to Other Post Types
Click a posting option at the top of your Tumblr dashboard to begin a new post.
Enter the text of your post as your would normally, including the words that you want to link to the external website.
Highlight the word or phrase that you want to use as the link, and then click the link icon on the editing toolbar.
Paste the URL of the external website in the Link URL field, and then click "Insert Link." The highlighted text becomes a clickable hyperlink.
External Links in Sidebar
Click "Customize" on your Tumblr dashboard, and then scroll to the bottom of the Customize pane and click "Add a Page."
Click "Standard Layout" at the top of the new window, and then select "Redirect" from the list of options.
Replace "url" at the end of your Tumblr address in the next field with a short word to complete the URL. It doesn't matter what you enter -- no one else will see this address.
Enter the URL for the external website in the "Redirect To" field.
Click the toggle switch next to "Show A Link to This Page" so that Tumblr will add the link to your sidebar.
Click "My Awesome Page" next to the toggle switch, and then type in the text you want to use as your sidebar link. For example, you might type in "My Facebook Page" if you're creating a link to your Facebook profile.
Click "Save" to create the link in your sidebar.
