University of Michigan
University of Michigan in Ann Arbor has the No. 9 law school in the country, according to the 2014 rankings from “U.S. News & World Report.” Additionally, QS World University rankings chose University of Michigan as the world’s No. 19 school for philosophy in 2013. University of Michigan offers pre-law advising at the Newnan LSA Academic Advising Center, with two dedicated advisers to help students choose courses that reflect well on law school applications. Undergraduates can also join the University of Michigan Pre-Law Society, which facilitates mentorship between its members and current students in the University of Michigan Law School.
Michigan State University
Located in East Lansing, Michigan State University has the No. 80 law school in the 2014 “U.S. News & World Report” rankings. “U.S. News & World Report” also chose Michigan State as the No. 7 criminology school in its 2009 rankings. Michigan State offers two actual pre-law majors that award students either a Bachelor of Arts in the Humanities-Prelaw or a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science-Prelaw. Michigan State University also has a student-organized pre-law society that hosts distinguished speakers, holds bi-weekly student meetings and assists with law school visits.
Wayne State University
Wayne State University in Detroit has the No. 105 law school in the 2014 “U.S. News & World Report” rankings. "Forbes" chose Wayne State University as its 2013 No. 114 overall university in the Midwest, and students at Wayne State can choose to pursue any of the typical pre-law majors. The University Advising Center at Wayne State has an established pre-law curriculum track that covers all of a future lawyer’s educational needs. Pre-law students can also join the Wayne State University Pre-Law Students Association, which provides guidance with the LSAT and law school admissions.
Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan, offers pre-law students preparation for law school through the high quality of its humanities-focused education, which “U.S. News & World Report” recognized when it chose this school as the highest ranked Michigan liberal arts college in its 2014 national rankings. In 2013, "Forbes" also recognized Kalamazoo College as its choice for the No. 19 overall school in the Midwest. Kalamazoo College offers an extensive pre-law program, which features student advising, the Study of Law Cluster of Courses, the Pre-Law Society Student Organization and the Law Guild, which fosters connections between undergraduates, faculty and alumni in the legal profession.
