The TEAS test is also known as the Test of Essential Academic Skills. Certain Nursing schools may decide to administer this test to students as part of the admission process into the Nursing program.

Structure

The TEAS test consists of 170 multiple-choice questions. The TEAS contains four sections: Reading, English, Math and Science; basic understanding of these subjects has been deemed important for success in Nursing schools.

Content

The Reading section covers paragraph and passage comprehension. The English section covers sentence structure, grammar, punctuation and spelling. The Math section includes whole numbers, fractions, decimals, algebraic equations, metric conversions, ratios, percentages and proportions. The Science section covers general science, chemistry, biology, physics, anatomy and physiology.

Grading

The TEAS test is not a pass/fail test. Each test is graded and given a scored percentage. Each Nursing school sets their own score requirements for program admission.

Multiple Attempts

Each school determines their own policies regarding how many times a student can take the test. However, most schools do allow students to re-take the test once, in an effort to obtain a high score for Nursing program admission.

Study Guides

A variety of study guides and study tools are available for the Nursing TEAS test. These study guides can be found in your school bookstore or through test preparation websites, such as TestPrepReview.com.
