The requirements for membership in the National Honor Society, long considered the premier extracurricular organization for high-achieving college students, can vary from chapter to chapter. But there are some basic requirements that must be met.
Grade Point Average
National Honor Society membership typically requires students to have and maintain a grade point average above 3.5, which is an "A" letter grade average.
A certain number of community service hours are usually mandated for members, typically around 15 per year.
You usually must be a junior or senior to participate in National Honor Society.
You must attend the society's meetings on a regular basis. Frequent absences can result in your membership being revoked.
If your behavior in school requires disciplinary action by the principal or assistant principal, your membership may be revoked.
