Whether you’re celebrating the first 6-month milestone in your relationship or you’re preparing for your 10th anniversary as a couple, you can infuse the celebration with romance to make it an unforgettable night. Forgo the ordinary wine and roses and use your girlfriend’s interests as a guide to create the ideal romantic evening. With a little creativity, you’ll quickly become the most romantic person she’s ever known.

Prepare an unforgettable dinner. If you're gifted in the kitchen, prepare your girlfriend her favorite meal and serve it by candlelight. If the kitchen is foreign territory, order in or prepare a picnic basket full of simple fare, such as crackers and cheese, and a batch of her favorite bakery sweets or chocolate-dipped strawberries. Set up a blanket in front of the fireplace and dine in front of the blaze or bring the basket to a nearby park and enjoy dinner beneath the stars.

Write short, sweet love notes to your girlfriend on small slips of paper and leave them all over the areas of the house in which she will be to find them. For example, you can place one on her dinner plate, wrap one around her champagne flute and tape one to the bathroom mirror.

Make a pathway from the dining room to the living room with rose petals to infuse the home with the flowers' decadent scent. If you’re picnicking in the backyard, lead your girlfriend from the house to the yard with the rose pathway instead. Alternatively, you can pack the petals in your picnic basket and scatter them on your blanket before you dine at the park.

Ask your girlfriend to dance. Whether you're planning a night to remember at home or in the great outdoors, you can get her pulse racing as you move in tandem cheek to cheek. Step it up a notch by leaving the music player off; hum the lyrics to her favorite song softly in her ear and your girlfriend will feel thoroughly romanced -- even if you’re a little off key.

Impress your girlfriend with your musical talent. Whether you can carry a tune, strum a guitar or tinkle the ivories on the piano, you can serenade her with an intimate performance. If you’re courageous, take her to a local karaoke bar and sing to her in front of the crowd. The worse your voice, the more points you earn for getting up on the stage.

Share an intimate conversation with your girlfriend. Gear the conversation toward the hopes and dreams you each have and your feelings for one another. Give your girlfriend your complete attention so she can recognize your earnest interest in what she has to share. Women often value communication and sharing an emotional discussion will make the evening romantic and unforgettable.

Bring your girlfriend on a romantic evening stroll. You can walk barefoot along the beach together if there is one located nearby, walk through a local conservation area or simply walk through your neighborhood, cast in a gentle glow by streetlights.
