Add a bit of style to your Tumblr blog by using an image for your home link instead of just plain text. When your readers click the image in your sidebar from any page, Tumblr takes them to the top of your main blog. Once you select the picture you want to use as a link, upload it to Tumblr and create the link with a simple line of HTML code.
Upload Image to Tumblr
Navigate to the Tumblr file upload page (link in Resources). This page is only for uploading images and other files required for your theme or sidebar.
Click the "Browse" button and select the image file you want to use for your home link. The file must be under 5MB in size.
Click "Upload File," then copy the URL that appears after the upload is complete.
Add Linked Image to Sidebar
Go to your Tumblr dashboard and click "Customize."
Click inside the "Description" box at the location where you want to insert the home link. If you already have a home link in your sidebar, find the line of code for it in the description field. It usually contains the text "<a href="/">" (without the outside quotes).
Add the following line of HTML code (or modify the existing code):
<A HREF="/"><IMG SRC="Image URL"></A>
Replace "Image URL" with the URL Tumblr provided after you uploaded the image (keep the outside quotes).
Adjust the image size to fit your sidebar by adding a width attribute to the code in the following manner: <A HREF="\"><IMG SRC="Image URL" width="200"></A>
Adjust the "width" value until you achieve the desired size, then click "Save" and then "Exit." It may take a minute for the link to become active.
