Since ancient times, honey and lemon have been used to improve skin tone and clarity. Because both are known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, they are also well tolerated by the skin. Both honey and lemon are natural, so most skin types can benefit from their use without sensitivity.

1 Use Honey and Lemon Topically

When you combine honey and lemon to use as a facial mask, you may see significant lightening and soothing effects on your skin. Honey, a natural anti-inflammatory ingredient, absorbs impurities from pores; lemon, a natural lightener, lightens and brightens skin tone. In addition, lemon is a good chemical exfoliator thanks to its natural fruit acids, aiding in skin cell turnover and improving overall skin smoothness when used topically. Plus, lemon is a good source of vitamin C, an ingredient known for its brightening and lightening effects. When it comes to treating the skin, a honey-lemon mask can improve acne, sunburn, fine lines, irritated skin and redness. Make your own mask by mixing equal parts of honey and fresh lemon juice and combine until smooth. Then, apply to the skin and leave it for 20 minutes before rinsing with cool water. Pat dry. Repeat the honey-lemon masque twice weekly for best results. Take care not to get it into your eyes.
