Being enrolled in school involves a large time commitment, as you have a lot of requirements and a lot of information to learn so you can excel in your classes. School success usually requires many hours of studying. Some students, especially college or graduate-school students, have full-time jobs, families or other commitments, and studying during the day is not an option. The good news is that if you find yourself needing to stay up late to study, with a few simple tips, you can pull it off.
Eat a healthy diet. Junk foods like cookies and chips may give you a burst of energy right after you eat them, but make you feel sluggish very quickly. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated.
Take a nap during the day. Even if you can only take a 10- to 15-minute nap, it recharges you and helps you stay up late to study.
Set small goals for what you’d like to achieve and by what time of the night. Goals may help motivate you to get your studying done.
Create a reward for yourself. For example, after you've finished studying to your satisfaction, take a long, hot bath or indulge in your favorite television show.
Find a place to study that allows you to do so without distractions. Although studying at your apartment or dorm room may seem appealing, you may get distracted by things like the radio, television, roommates or pets. Instead, pick a place like a 24-hour study hall at your school or a late-night coffee shop.
