How to Stop Payment to Children International

Even if you have to stop payments, you will still have a chance to resume your sponsorship when you are ready.

Children International is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization aiding over 335,000 impoverished children and their families in Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Mexico, the Philippines, the United States and Zambia, as of 2011. The monthly sponsorship fee is US$22, and it provides the children with emergency food, medical and dental care, educational support, family assistance, clothes and shoes and other necessities.

Circumstances may prevent sponsors from making a payment every month. To stop monthly payment to Children International, you have to contact Children International’s customer support.

Have your account information handy. You will need the sponsor’s full name, mailing address with the zip code, phone number with the area code, account number and sponsored children’s child ID.

Call customer support at 1-800-888-3089 (toll-free). Their operation hours are: Monday through Thursday: 7 am - 9 pm Central time, Friday: 7 am - 6 pm Central time. If you are calling from Kansas City or outside the U.S., call 1-816-942-2000. If you need assistance in Spanish, press 2 before the call is transferred to an English-speaking customer support representative. If you need assistance in English, stay on the line. When a customer support representative answers your phone call, he will ask you for your account information. Give the information and tell him that you are no longer able to make a monthly payment to Children International.

Contact Children International electronically if you are unable to make a phone call using the number listed above or to get hold of a customer support representative. Go to Children International’s homepage at Children.org and click “Contact Us” at the bottom of the page. Below the top portion of the page, there is a section that verifies your age (you need to be over 13) and allows you to select a contact form. Fill out your information on the contact form and write a comment to explain to the Children International customer support that you are no longer able to make a monthly payment to Children International.

Contact Children International via email if you are unable to fill out the required information or are unable to contact the customer support using the contact form. They will send you a confirmation email as soon as they receive your email, stating that they will respond to you within one to three days.
