Herbs have been used for thousands of years and date all the way back to Biblical times. Many of the herbs used then are still in use today.

1 Myrrh

Myrrh is the residue from a shrub tree and was used to anoint the dead, as well as act as an astringent. It is still used as a mouthwash for dental diseases and sore gums.

2 Olive Oil

Olive oil and olive trees were considered herbs that increased longevity. Olive oil is high in vitamin E and improves high blood pressure and lowers your chances of heart disease.

3 Anise

The bark from anise has been used for brain disorders and for neurological diseases associated with Lyme disease and similar problems. It can improve your memory and help combat oily skin when using the seeds and leaves.

4 Pomegranates

Pomegranates are full of vitamins and minerals and are extremely healthy for you. However, they were used to help expel tapeworms when using the actual bark.

5 Thistle

There are two types of thistle plants. The blessed thistle, which has been used to improve digestion and bring down a fever. While milk thistle can improve a diseased liver by regenerating cells and liver function.

6 Balm

Balm, such as lemon or bee balm, was used to make tea and to calm nerves and emotions. It can help with PMS and menstrual cramps.
