Each location you check in to on Foursquare has its own venue page that lists all user check-in information, contact information, photos, available specials, directions and other details about the business. Because two or more venues may have the same name, Foursquare assigns a unique venue ID to each location, which includes both the name and a unique string of numbers. You can quickly check what the venue ID for any location is when adding venues to Foursquare lists.

Log in to your Foursquare account and hover your cursor over your username or profile photo in the main menu, then select "Lists" from the drop-down menu.

Click the "Create New List" button, enter a name for your list in the pop-up box and then click "Create" to finish creating your new list. You can add a description and a photo to your list when you're done.

Ensure that you have entered the correct location in the location field. If the location is incorrect, click the field and type the new location, then press "Enter" to save it.

Search for the venue in the search field and select from the drop-down menu the first venue for which you want the ID.

Right-click the title of the venue and open the venue page in a new browser. The URL reveals the venue ID for that particular venue with the following syntax:

https://foursquare.com/v/venue/venue_id

with "Venue" being the title of your venue and "venue_id" being the string of numbers unique to that particular location.

Repeat this as needed for all the other venues you add to your list.
