If you want to deepen your understanding of Scripture or enhance your ministry by attending Bible college, but work, family or finances are stopping you, a Bible correspondence degree program might overcome those barriers for you. A correspondence program provides much the same value as on-campus programs with the same variety of faith-based schools, including similar undergraduate and graduate degrees and concentrations. Getting you Bible degree by correspondence can save money while you learn at your own pace.
Degrees by Correspondence
The Assembly of God-affiliated Global University of Springfield, Missouri, offers a bachelor's degree with majors in Bible and theology, intercultural studies or Christian education. All courses are available in English, Spanish or French, and can be completed entirely through distance learning. In addition, master's programs in Biblical or ministerial studies are offered. The nondenominational Evangel Christian University of America in Monroe, Louisiana, offers associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral-level degree programs in Bible, Christian counseling and church music, with majors or concentrations in such areas as theology or Biblical languages.
Partially by Correspondence
The nondenominational Barclay College of Haviland, Kansas, offers a bachelor's degree through their Home College, with such courses as Bible and theology or a minor with a Bilingual Certificate in Bible and Ministry. Students need to coordinate with the college so that their correspondence courses will combine with on-campus or online degree requirements to finish their degree. Southwest Baptist University offers partial bachelor's degree courses through their Online Independent Study program, a web-based self-paced program, however, students need to combine these courses with traditional on-campus courses for a degree in Biblical studies or Christian ministry. The nondenominational Pensacola Christian College of Pensacola, Florida, offers blended correspondence master's level programs in Bible Exposition or Ministry that allow full-time ministry workers to take up to 24 credits by correspondence and the remaining six credit hours in residence. Students learn to offer credible defense of sound doctrine, integrate Scripture into various ministry contexts and evaluate current issues in light of Biblical teaching.
Post-Baccalaureate Correspondence Certificates
Interdenominational Fuller Theological Seminary of Pasadena, California, offers a post-baccalaureate Certificate of Christian Studies, a 24 quarter-unit program that is available through correspondence through their School of Intercultural Studies. All certificate courses apply toward the master's-level degree programs with emphasis areas such as children at risk and Christian leadership. The Anglican-affiliated Nashotah House Theological Seminary of Nashotah, Wisconsin, offers a distance learning option for the post-baccalaureate Anglican Studies Certificate, a 30-credit certificate of five three-month modules. Each module includes a one-week residency on-campus for face-to-face instruction. Modules include such areas as Anglican heritage, ascetical theology and liturgics.
