Online degrees have increased in popularity and frequency in universities and colleges in Canada. A number of Canadian schools now offer online degree options in order to help students keep up with the demands of modern life. Online degrees offer students a level of flexibility otherwise impossible in the traditional campus setting.

University of Manitoba

One option for online courses in Canada is the University of Manitoba. The University of Manitoba offers hundreds of online courses and several online degrees through its 12 different faculties and schools. The school offers a general studies bachelor of arts program, bachelor of arts in geography, bachelor of social work and a baccalaureate program for registered nurses. A 30 credit hour post-baccalaureate certificate is also offered for professional development of teachers. Online degrees are offered at both the bachelor's and master's degree levels. Bachelor's degrees include the fields of nursing, anthropology, professional arts, Canadian studies, management, human resources, general studies, French, health administration, commerce, information systems, humanities, history, women's studies, psychology, sociology, political economy and labor studies. A third option for Canadian students to pursue online courses and degrees is Thompson Rivers University (TRU). TRU is an open university like Athabasca University. The primary mission of the university is to provide distance education courses and degrees. Areas of study offered at TRU include health science, psychology, history, tourism management, general studies, sociology, English, commerce, technology and the fine arts.
