Sometimes you need money from your account, but your nearest bank branch isn't near you. You can usually use your debit card at other banks, just like you'd use your debit card at your bank. However, there are usually fees involved.
You can use your card at another bank through that bank's ATM. Check the logo on your debit card and the logo on the machine to make sure your card is accepted. Most ATMs accept cards supported by major companies like Visa or MasterCard. The ATM will inform you of any fees and ask for your permission before continuing. Put your PIN in -- then you can check your balance, make a withdrawal or transfer money. Usually, you won't be able to make a deposit unless it's an ATM operated by your bank.
