Medical schools that welcome and train foreign students are ordinarily approved by organizations in their own countries. The Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) uses The International Medical Education Directory to identify international medical schools that have appropriate government recognition. FAIMER does not accredit or endorse any of the schools in IMED, but the absence of a globally recognized and accepted approval agency makes the foundation's observations noteworthy.
